Proposed Super Bowl Halftime Shows

February 2002

Every year we know that though the game itself often does not live up to its hype, the Super Bowl halftime show never fails to exceed it.. Its designers, never shy, have even gone as far as perform a re-creation of the Battle of New Orleans. Sources have disclosed to HFH some proposals currently being reviewed by the NFL for future Super Bowl halftime shows that we may see in the coming years:

A Tribute to Franz Kafka -- Featuring 'N Sync in giant cockroach costumes singing their hit song "Bye Bye," followed by the Ohio State marching band doing their interpretation of The Trial.

"Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Yay!" -- This is a multi-starred performance of the old time hit "Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Yay!" first performed as a sultry duet by Michael Jackson and Britney Spears, followed by a show-stopper by Cathy Lee Gifford, with a grand finale by the Penn State Nittany Lions Drum and Bugle Corps.

God as Middle Manager -- With Drew Carey and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, additional music by Joan Osborn.

Second Best -- A tribute to all those teams who "came in second" in past super bowls. Co-hosted by Jennifer Love Hewitt and Marilyn Manson, with appearances by Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy and Joan Osborn.

Biblical Doritos -- A humorous look at the story of creation, The Book of Job, Noah and the Ark and other Bible faves, as depicted by America's favorite crunchy snack food. Featuring Jennifer Lopez and the Ohio State marching band.

Beatnik, Schmeatnik  -- An irreverent look at the contributions of the beat movement to American literature and political culture, with excerpts from Naked Lunch and Howl put to song and dance by the "Young Americans."
